Unplugged

In a world of endless scrolling

Where screens dictate our pace

I find a quiet solace

In a digital free space

Eyes glued to glowing rectangles

As we walk and drive, unaware

Missing moments, losing presence

In a web of virtual snare

Once a week, I break the cycle

Disconnect to reconnect

With nature, thoughts, and feelings

A practice of self-respect

Stress dissolves like morning mist

Happiness, a gentle rise

Calm and peace, my faithful friends

In this digital-free reprise

I see the world with clearer eyes

Hear the whispers of the trees

Feel the rhythm of my heartbeat

In these moments, I am free

Let us cherish real connections

Embrace the world outside the screen

For in the art of digital detox

We find the space to dream

I regularly schedule time to shut off my electronics. While my life and hobbies don't allow to fully disengage, I do completely disengage from my phone. There's an app called, "Digital Detox." I allow this app full access to my phone. Which means when I am detoxing, I cannot get back into my phone, other than to make an emergency call, unless I want to pay the app. I have not paid yet, and I don't plan to. The longest detox I've done so far is 12 hours. Now that I have a second phone for business purposes only, I plan on attempting an entire day.
