Unattainable Love

Updated: Jun 3

Two decades passed in a fleeting wisp

Reuniting now, an unexpected twist

A cup of coffee, a chance to reminisce

With my ex, a chapter I once missed

Anticipation swirls like coffee's steam

Long-lost memories in a dreamlike gleam

Closure sought in each sip and word

As old wounds heal, like a singing bird

Yet in my heart, a longing stirs

For more than just coffee's comforting whirs

A chance to rewrite our history's tale

To mend what broke, to set sail

Perhaps in this moment, we'll find anew

A spark reigniting, a love once true

As we share stories of past and present

Hoping for a future, a love resplendent

I've explained these types of poems so much that I feel spent and don't even want to explain, but want to make sure I share everything that's been written. This is a good sign that my hard work in processing, understanding, and healing and closure is happening. For anyone who's not read the past blogs, it's an old flame that I've spent way too long waiting for, only to find out the connection I felt, was not a connection at all, and the hurt and pain that comes from knowing you've wasted two decades, stuck, and waiting for something that never existed.
