To My Best Friend

In a world where love can waver, true and pure

There lies a creature, loyal and secure

A dog, a friend, a companion so dear

With a love unbounded, crystal clear

No judgment, no criticism, they’re free from disdain

Their hearts overflow with a love that won’t wane

Through highs and lows, they stand by your side

Their loyalty unwavering, a constant guide

They greet you with joy, tails wagging in delight

Every homecoming, a moment shining so bright

They care not for dishes or how things may be

Their love is unconditional, for all to see

They don’t fret over laundry, or how you wear your hair

For them, it’s your presence that makes life fair

Their love transcends flaws, imperfections they ignore

Embracing your spirit to its very core

Indeed, humans may falter, with love that can fade

But dogs, dear friend, in their devotion never trade

They selflessly give, their own needs they suppress

Living for others, with love they impress

And when their time on Earth comes to an end

We can’t help but wonder, where do they transcend?

Perhaps, in the realms of heaven, they find their place

Their souls basking in eternal love and grace

For we often take animals for granted, it’s true

Their worth, their essence, we fail to pursue

But let us learn from the dogs we hold dear

To love without conditions, to alleviate fear

In the embrace of a dog’s love, we find solace and bliss

A reminder of the pure love we sometimes miss

So cherish these creatures their hearts so grand

For in their love, we glimpse heaven’s promised land

I just love my pup so much. I've not known unconditional love until I met this dog. Call me crazy, laugh at me, I don't even care. This dog kept me alive. She's an old lady now, and I owe her my life, literally. If I didn't have her, I'm 100 percent confident I would've completed suicide.
