In a cycle of love with tangled roots
A story of mother’s and daughter’s imprints
Longing for presence, for warmth not counts
Unspoken emotions, like quiet, distant mounts
Gifts and riches, wrapped in glittering guise
Cannot replace what the heart truly sighs
A yearning for love that money can’t buy
Echoes through generations with silent cries
A mother’s wish, a daughter’s plea
To bridge the gap of what cannot be
In seeking presence, in breaking free
Love binds hearts in a delicate spree
History repeats its echoes sweet
Lessons learned in paths, our mother’s beat
Yearning for love in a tender seat
Embracing the past, a future to greet
May love’s true essence, beyond gift and gain
Fill the void of longing, release the pain
In presence felt, hearts shall reign
A legacy of love, unbroken chain
My mother often expressed dissatisfaction with her own mother, claiming that her mother showed affection only through material purchases. She would mock her, belittle her, and frequently point out how much better off I was compared to her own upbringing. She always said she would be there for me, but her actions never reflected that promise. Ironically, this was the same woman who maxed out her credit card at an ATM to buy me a car, yet never once apologized or said, "I love you." She simply repeated the same behaviors she criticized, but amplified them.
What I truly long for is to feel loved—not through things or money, but through genuine connection. Material wealth has never held significance for me. What matters most is love, quality time together, understanding, honesty, loyalty, and compassion. Despite growing up in an environment of material abundance, I was deprived of the one thing every child truly needs: real love and affection.
