The Unspoken Truths: A Daughter's Journey to Understanding and Healing

Updated: May 7

In shadows cast by words unkind

A bond once sought, now left behind

Your actions spoke where silence lay

In echoes of a bitter fray

Unveiling truths you dared not face

A daughter lost in your embrace

My presence clashed, a storm untamed

In your eyes, a daughter shamed

Yet in the tempest of our strife

Lies freedom from the chains of life

For in my strength, your solace found

A liberation, so profound

So, take this gift, this newfound path

Where blame dissolves in aftermath

No mirror now reflects the pain

In freedom’s light, we both regain

This reflection comes from a deep desire to understand my mother — to unravel the secrets, the lies, the manipulations, and the pain she has caused not only to me but to others as well. I’ve often wondered about the traumas she’s endured, the ones that shaped her into who she is today. It’s evident that she doesn’t want anyone to uncover the truth of her past, or the reasons behind the mistreatment I’ve faced. But what she doesn’t realize is that healing and peace are possible only when we confront the truths we try to hide, including the wrongs that have been done to us, and the harm we may have inflicted on others.

It’s heartbreaking to watch her resist the possibility of growth, to see her shut herself off from the potential of understanding, forgiveness, and healing. And all the while, there’s a daughter on the other side, waiting for the day she may finally take that step toward self-discovery and emotional freedom.
