In the tapestry of life, a truth unfolds

Family’s definition, a story yet untold

For bloodlines may trace our ancestry

But love’s embrace can redefine what we see

Sometimes, in the midst of life’s great quest

A soul emerges, to heal wounds that rest

(Name kept private), a mother found in unlikely embrace

Through struggles and issues, her love finds its place

In her presence, wounds begin to heal

A guiding light, a love that’s real

Through ups and downs, conflicts faced

A bond grows stronger, built on a solid base

Direction and guidance, she freely imparts

A compass of wisdom, nurturing hearts

In healthy conflict, growth finds its way

A mother’s love, leading us day by day

Friendship blossoms, a cherished gift

Through laughter and tears, souls uplift

A mother’s love, a shelter from the storm

A reminder of how deeply we are adorned

In (Name kept private)’s arms, love finds its home

A sanctuary where seeds of love are sown

For family transcends DNA’s decree

It’s the love we share, that sets us free

The scars from my parental wounds run deep, but I've come to realize that family extends beyond blood ties. True family consists of those who consistently stand by your side, showering you with unconditional love despite your imperfections and their own.

Over the course of the past six years, I have encountered a multitude of individuals who have become my chosen family. It's disheartening to acknowledge that it often takes strangers to offer me the love I crave, and that realization will always leave a lingering ache. Nevertheless, I am immensely grateful for the many supporters who stand firmly in my corner. Their unwavering presence has provided me with guidance, knowledge, and solace. In fact, I place more trust in these dear souls than in most of the "family" I am genetically connected to.
